The main Aberdeen to Inverness road, the A96, is less than a mile from the airport. Car Rental, Driving and Parking in Aberdeen
Driving around Aberdeen is not difficult, although no motorways exist in this region. A comprehensive network of 'A' roads connect Aberdeen to other parts of the Scottish highlands. The A90 is one of the main roads in this region and heads in a north-south direction, close to the coastline.
Noteworthy roads in central Aberdeen include Union Street, which runs through the heart of the city until Mercat Cross, next to Castlegate. A number of streets in the historic Old Aberdeen area have restricted access and are best explored on foot.
Parking in Aberdeen is not often a problem, with plenty of multi-storey car parks around the city. The Bon Accord Centre is home to a large car park, close to the shops, while other garages can be found along West North Street, Shiprow (close to the tourism centre), Huntly Street, Trinity Centre, and more. Park and ride is also a popular option nearby, from either Kingswells or the Bridge of Don area, with these car parks being linked by regular buses.
